Outta town

Golly gosh lollipop!

Late nights, boozy ways. Seems my silly season has been a combination of amazing red wine along with my drink-of-choice, a pimms and lemonade with cucumber and a hint of mint. So drinkable and demonly too. To add to all that alcohol, my coffee intake during daylight has been outta this world. Seriously, on average about three to four cups a day.

It’s called A liquid diet. Anything but water goes down a treat.

To add to my unconventional diet, I escaped to Melbourne for the weekend and hit up more of that liquid. Golly gosh, with the amount of good coffee and great laneway cafes, you could create the ultimate coffee crawl (my idea of the perfect sunday by the way). I know this is a food blog, but drinks go part and parcel with eating and I did manage to do some of that too. Let’s just say, to help with the alcohol absorption, that fillet-o-fish-finger-sandbo has been getting a solid workout of late.

Note to self: more home cooked meals, less fried food, choose a green salad, more exercise and drink little more water.

What-the-hoochie?! Nah, since there’s only four weeks of the year left, I’m gonna live it up. Pimms and a pour over please, stat! Life’s short. When twenty-twelve comes round – then I’ll actually listen to my good side. Until then, join in and get totally silly too.

First coffee in Melbourne at Hardware Societe, a little on the weak side but it still went down a treat

But there are totally bonus points for this little mini donut ball that comes with your coffee.

Fluffy sugary and cinnamon goodness. Takes over as number one spot complimentary coffee treat over Corelli's in Newtown's tiny teddy freebie.

Cause of the terrible weather I had to sit and drink my coffee with my umbrella up under some red light too

A little stop for a sweet treat at La Belle Miette, all the flavours were delightful.

These ones were my favourite flavour - pimms & pomegranate - S.C.O.R.E.

A stroll through the gorgeous GPO, seriously, can this place do any better with the visual merchandising?!

Ummm, yes! This dress colour is my palette of choice for summer, a bit of peachy-keen

Can my wardrobe look like this, makes me want to buy everything on display

Another coffee stop by Proud Mary in Collingwood. A. Serious. Hot. Spot. For. Coffee. Lovers.

Then a pour over, these guys do it so well. I usually have milk but I went without this time.

Coffee, chit, chat

And another, some quality control.

A little slow roasted pork belly sandbo, this was a cracker, fell apart in the mouth

Giant potato hash with bacon and wilted spinach anyone?

How about some mandarin ricotta hotcakes? These give Bills ricotta hotcakes with honeycomb butter a run for their money

The smoked pork neck with beans topped with poached egg. Tasty but not smokey enough for my liking.

Then off to Manchester Press for some afternoon bagel and coffee action

Awaiting my coffee and admiring the decor #multitasking

Coffee art, so utterly Melbourne...

Love this cheeky one

Open-bagel-perfection, classic smoked salmon, cream cheese and capers $12 to top my lunch off

Hello vino, you my friend are so tasty and my fav drink of the mo'

The purchase that I'm in love with, my ice-cream light from Sportsgirl $19.95. Novelty meets function and food.

If only it came in a green tea whip...

Hey, big Tokyo spender

I threw caution to the wind and turned a blind eye to the bad aussie dollar whilst in Tokyo.
When in Jap-land, do as the Japs-do. SHOP!

A HOLIDAY MEANS STOP COUNTING, ENJOY EACH AND EVERY DAY THEN DEAL WITH IT WHEN YOU GET BACK.

Let’s be frank. I could have bought a whole heap more. There was a fair bit of damage considering it was such a short trip, somehow I managed to give that little piece-o-plastic some kind of workout, boot camp style. Fast and furious minus the sweat-factor. Here are a few things I picked up. Most of these are not available here in Oz, so you’ll have to do an impromptu trip to pick these little goodies up. C’mon you know you want to. Hop. To. It.

Japan's obsession with pandas is evident here. I couldn't leave these, so c-u-t-e (245 yen/4 aussie)

HUG CARDS! Genius, teeny-tiny and oh so marvellous

Awww, makes present wrapping that much funner

I had to pick a few of these PLAY tshirts up, they are a wardrobe staple (5300 yen/60 aussie) Available from Incu for 126 aussie here

Some colourful enamel pots, a la modern camping gear (1575 yen/18 aussie)

My motto is good looking gear = great tasting food

This amaze dimpled copper pot (4500 yen/50 aussie) thanks to Masterchef's Adam Liaw for pointing me in the right direction

I haven't used it yet, it's so stunning I want to keep it pristine. Stupid, I know...

I also picked up this much cheaper aluminium pot for "everyday use" (880 yen/11 aussie)

The packaging of these post-it notes send me into meltdown - oh.so.gorgeous. (945 yen/11 aussie)

I'm using them sparingly so that I can keep the desk looking lovely, a good desk ain't fab without designer post-its from Tok-yoh

Here are the post-its in action, a little gift for Round Eye

These mini baskets I picked up at a boutique stationary store (200 yen/3.50 aussie)

Seriously small, I hope to style them up in an upcoming recipe

Cigarette sweets? Oh.so.wrong. But I had to get them (37 yen/50c aussie)

There are 6 sweet ciggys in the pack

I didn't inhale but took a good bite and it was orangy-soft-sherbet-like goodness

Now, I DON'T endorse real smoking but DO endorse sweet eating smokes. As smoking kills.
