Unlike other years, I didn’t get overloaded on rich food (a very rare thing!). Instead, I grazed over the week and a bit off with a little exercise inbetween. By exercise, it was more a few laps here and there – rather then my usual workouts or my runs.
My days off consisted of finding a beach to visit, packing a few sandwiches n’ snacks, a big bottle of water along with my big beach towel and some goggles (or snorkel).
Before I returned to the dreaded W-world, we took to Gordon’s Bay and snorkelled the clear waters. Waded alongside some floating lilos, before lying like seals on rocks – in the hot but gorgeous sun. It was a good ending to a well-deserved break. Secretly, I did loose a flipper when a wave crashed against me, but managed to find it only moments later.
Note to self: don’t wear flippers too big for you and avoid the waves when exiting the water via the concrete ramp.
If you are still on holiday time, enjoy it and head down to Gordon’s Bay. It really is a great Sydney spot that often gets forgotten over the usuals; Bondi, Bronte, Tamarama or Coogee crew.
THE DEETS YOU WANT TO KNOW
SNORKEL GORDON’S BAY
Inbetween Clovelly and Coogee Beach
Park in the Clovelly Lifesaving Club (if you can score a spot)
Enter the water via the concrete path and follow the underwater chain – this goes in a loop or just free snokel (like me!)
Park your stuff on a big rock and bring a big brolly – there’s very little shade
